Set oven to 325°F and grease a 9-inch springform pan.

Press the sugar cookie dough evenly across the bottom of the prepared pan. If the dough is too soft, mix in all-purpose flour to firm it.

Bake the crust for 10 to 12 minutes until lightly golden. Remove and allow to cool slightly.

Using a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth. Add eggs individually, mixing after each addition, then blend in sour cream and vanilla extract until incorporated.

Pour the cheesecake batter over the cooled crust. Place in oven and bake for 50 to 55 minutes, or until the center is almost set.

Turn off the oven, crack the door, and let the cheesecake cool slowly inside for 1 hour.

Transfer cheesecake to refrigerator and chill for at least 4 hours or overnight. Before serving, top with whipped cream or whipped topping and garnish with crumbled or whole sugar cookies.
