# What You Need:

→ Puff Pastry

01 - 1 sheet store-bought puff pastry, thawed according to package instructions

→ Cream Cheese Filling

02 - 8 oz cream cheese, at room temperature
03 - 4 tablespoons white sugar
04 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

→ Strawberry Mixture

05 - 1 cup diced strawberries

→ Egg Wash

06 - 1 large egg
07 - 2 tablespoons cold water

→ Coloring (Optional)

08 - Red food coloring, as desired

# How to Make It:

01 - In a medium bowl, blend the cream cheese, white sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. If desired, add a drop of red food coloring for tint.
02 - Finely dice the strawberries and set aside.
03 - On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry to smooth seams. Cut the pastry into heart shapes using a cookie cutter or knife.
04 - Arrange heart shapes on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Spread a layer of the cream cheese mixture onto each heart, leaving a small border at the edges. Top evenly with diced strawberries.
05 - In a small bowl, whisk the egg with 2 tablespoons cold water. Gently brush the edges of the puff pastry hearts with the egg wash.
06 - Preheat oven to 400°F. Bake the danishes for 30–45 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and set. Rotate the baking sheet halfway through for even baking.
07 - Allow the danishes to cool briefly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

# Extra Tips:

01 - For a vibrant appearance, blend a small amount of red food coloring into the cream cheese mixture. Puff pastry should remain cold until ready to bake for optimal flakiness.
