01 - 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

05 - 7 ounces unsalted butter, softened
06 - Pink food coloring paste, as needed

07 - 2/3 to 3/4 cup redcurrant jelly or red fruit jelly
08 - All-purpose flour, for dusting work surface

# How to Make It:

01 - Place flour, powdered sugar, and vanilla sugar into a large mixing bowl and blend to combine.
02 - Add the egg, softened butter, and a small amount of pink food coloring paste. Knead by hand or using a mixer with a dough hook until a smooth, uniform dough forms.
03 - Shape dough into a disc, wrap tightly in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
04 - Preheat oven to 320°F (convection/fan). Line three baking trays with parchment paper.
05 - Lightly flour the work surface and rolling pin. Roll dough evenly to about 1/8 inch thickness.
06 - Using Linzer cookie cutters, cut equal numbers of solid and heart-windowed cookies. Transfer to prepared baking trays.
07 - Bake one tray at a time in the center of the oven for about 8 minutes, until set but not browned.
08 - Remove from oven and allow cookies to cool fully on trays or wire racks.
09 - Warm the red jelly gently in the microwave until it is smooth and spreadable.
10 - Brush the base of each solid cookie with a thin layer of jelly, then top with a heart-cutout cookie.
