01 - 1 stick (4 ounces or 8 tablespoons) unsalted butter
02 - 2/3 cup granulated sugar, plus extra for rolling
03 - 2 large egg yolks
04 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
05 - 3 to 5 drops green food gel coloring
06 - 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
07 - 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
08 - 1/4 teaspoon fine salt

→ Decoration

09 - 12 red heart sprinkles

# How to Make It:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper or place a silicone baking mat on top.
02 - Melt unsalted butter in a mixing bowl using a microwave. Add granulated sugar, egg yolks, vanilla extract, and 3 drops green food gel coloring. Stir the mixture thoroughly. Increase food coloring for a deeper green if desired.
03 - Sprinkle all-purpose flour, baking soda, and fine salt evenly over the mixture. Stir gently until just combined to form the dough.
04 - Flatten dough evenly in the bowl, then divide in half by eye. Form each half into 6 balls for a total of 12 cookies.
05 - Roll each dough ball between your palms, then lightly dredge in extra granulated sugar. Place balls spaced apart on prepared baking sheet.
06 - Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 11 minutes, until cookies spread, crackle, and the tops appear dry.
07 - Remove cookies from oven. Immediately press a red heart sprinkle onto the surface of each cookie while still warm so the decoration adheres.
08 - Allow cookies to rest on baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

# Extra Tips:

01 - Adding the heart sprinkles while the cookies are warm ensures they stick properly without falling off.
