# What You Need:

→ Dry Ingredients

01 - 2 cups all-purpose flour
02 - 1 tablespoon baking powder
03 - 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
04 - 1 teaspoon salt

→ Fat

05 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

→ Liquids

06 - 3/4 cup cold buttermilk

→ Finishing (Optional)

07 - 1 egg, beaten, for brushing tops

# How to Make It:

01 - Preheat oven to 450°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, and salt until evenly incorporated.
03 - Add cold, cubed unsalted butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or fingertips to blend until the mixture forms coarse, pea-sized crumbs.
04 - Create a well in the center of the mixture and pour in cold buttermilk. Gently stir until the dough just begins to form—do not overmix.
05 - Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead very gently 5–6 times to bring the dough together.
06 - Roll dough to approximately 1-inch thickness. Cut into circles using a biscuit cutter and arrange closely on the prepared baking sheet.
07 - If desired, brush biscuit tops with beaten egg. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown and flaky.

# Extra Tips:

01 - For optimal flakiness, keep all ingredients as cold as possible until baking.
