Toast the bread slices until golden brown and crisp. Spread softened butter on one side of each slice while still warm.

In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise and barbecue sauce until fully integrated. Set aside for assembly.

Arrange three slices of prepared toast on a clean work surface. On the first slice, spread one tablespoon of mayo-barbecue sauce.

Place thinly sliced roast beef over the sauce, followed by tomato slices. Top with one slice of cheddar cheese. Season lightly with salt and black pepper.

Add a second slice of toast over the existing layers. Spread another tablespoon of the prepared sauce on top.

Layer smoked turkey breast and cooked bacon atop the sauced toast. Add another slice of cheddar cheese if desired.

Place a large leaf of lettuce over the meat and cheese, and season again to taste with salt and black pepper.

Spread a thin layer of the mayo-barbecue sauce on the inner side of the third slice of toast and place it on top to complete the sandwich. Slice as preferred and serve immediately.
