Spray a 9x9 inch casserole dish evenly with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.

For fresh green beans: wash, trim, and cut into bite-size segments, then blanch in boiling water for 2 minutes and drain. For canned beans: drain thoroughly. For frozen beans: thaw completely and drain excess moisture.

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the condensed cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth and well combined. Add the soy sauce and mix again.

Gently fold the green beans and 2/3 cup of the French fried onions into the soup mixture. Season with ground black pepper and mix until everything is evenly coated.

Spoon the green bean mixture into the prepared casserole dish and spread it in an even layer.

Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 25 minutes. Remove from oven, stir the casserole, then sprinkle the remaining French fried onions over the top. Return to oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the onions are golden brown.
