# What You Need:

→ Cake

01 - 1 box (18.25 ounces) white cake mix
02 - 1 box (3 ounces) strawberry-flavored instant gelatin
03 - 1 package (15 ounces) frozen strawberries in syrup, thawed and pureed
04 - 4 large eggs
05 - 0.5 cup vegetable oil
06 - 0.25 cup water

→ Frosting

07 - 0.25 cup unsalted butter, softened
08 - 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
09 - 1 package (10 ounces) frozen strawberries in syrup, thawed and pureed
10 - 7 cups confectioners’ sugar

→ Optional garnish

11 - Sliced fresh strawberries for decoration

# How to Make It:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
02 - In a large bowl, combine white cake mix and strawberry gelatin. Add in pureed frozen strawberries, eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until the batter is smooth.
03 - Divide batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 20 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in the center emerges clean.
04 - Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes. Remove from pans and transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
05 - In a large bowl, beat softened butter and cream cheese at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy.
06 - Add 0.25 cup of the strawberry puree. Gradually add confectioners’ sugar while mixing until the frosting is smooth and spreadable.
07 - Once cake layers are fully cooled, spread frosting between the layers and over the top and sides. Garnish with sliced fresh strawberries if desired.

# Extra Tips:

01 - To intensify strawberry flavor, add a few drops of strawberry extract to the batter or frosting if available.
02 - For a lighter version, substitute some or all of the frosting with whipped cream or vanilla buttercream.
03 - Batter can be used for cupcakes; if so, fill liners two-thirds full and bake for 15 to 18 minutes.
04 - Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
